Childhood is the foundation stage of human life. The importance of early childhood development is vast (Harvard Center on the Developing Child, 2007) and has been recognized by international development agencies. For example, in goal number 4 (target number 4.2) of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it has been clearly mentioned that by 2030 we need to provide high-quality early childhood care and education for all girls and boys globally

Why does Parenting Knowledge Matter?

Parenting is considered as a strong determinant of child development. And parenting knowledge strengthens parenting capacity of parents and caregivers. International agencies including World Health Organization, UNICEF, American Psychological Association, Center for Disease Control and Prevention emphasize on strengthening parenting knowledge to support child development for better human development and above all better human capital development. So, different countries have adopted different parenting programs as an intervention to support child development for better human development. And among various childhood development related programs, parenting training programs are highly effective and evidence-based.

Why Parenting?

A critical period is a restricted time window in the life of an individual during which specific events must occur to ensure normal development. Being a parent, caregiver, teacher, child life professional (for example, day care staff, health care professional, family, and social welfare staff) we need to know that the windows of opportunity are only effective when we are providing our child/ren a nurturing care and an effective environmental stimulus which the child can interact with.
